Summary/Abstract: Beginning with the performance Necropolis (2021) by Arkadi Zaides, it is worth exploring the relationship between landscape and forms of exclusion in the context of migration and the refugee crisis viewed as a legacy of European colonialisms. In Necropolis, Zaides sees many grave geo-localizations, especially the ones of mass graves were done outside of urban landscapes, primarily as sites of marked and unmarked graves of immigrants trying to enter Europe (illegally.) The project follows only victims who die due to the border policies of fortress Europe, as a result of crime. Due to their lack of legal status, their bodies are often left without burial rights. The corpses of immigrants mark the cityscape; seen from this perspective, the metropolitan area becomes a vast necropolis for the bodies of non-citizens. Although the choreographer does not explicitly refer to The Society of Enmity. Necropolitics an essay by Achille Mbembe that describes the relationship between being an entity and death as the root of modern sovereignty, it seems valid to him. The deaths of refugees often remain anonymous and socially invisible. The aim of the second part of my essay was to recognize a new type of migrants who leave their home due to the climate crisis. One outcome of this ecological issue is these new migrations not yet described in the legal system.
