Summary/Abstract: The varied forms of theatrical performances at the current stage require new approaches to stage-receiver communication. “Theatre of small forms”, “minimalist theatre”, “short theatre”, “small stage” are some aesthetic notions used in the case of treating a certain type of dramaturgical and theatrical discourse, a problem that is the object of research in this article. The purpose of the investigation lies in the diachronic revelation of such forms of artistic expression by examining the role of social and scientific contextuality in the assertion of theatrical aesthetic paradigms in different historical periods. The objectives of the research are summarized in the elucidation of the diversity of small forms in dramaturgy, performance, the specification of some terminological aspects regarding the respective artistic phenomena, the highlighting of typologies and the valorization of these forms in an evolutionary perspective. The terminological paradigms highlight, to a certain extent, the similarities and differences between the big stage and the small stage at the level of the theatricality of the discourse, especially the theatricality of the actor in the show.
