Бехрин Шопова: „Verin benim bağlamami“. Локална музикалнофолклорна култура на село Горна Хубавка, Търговищко“
Behrin Shopova: “Verin benim bağlamami. Local Folklore Music Culture of Gorna Hubavka Village, Targovishte Region”

Summary/Abstract: The book presents a study of a little-known local culture of a settlement whose inhabitants belong to the community of Sunni Turks in Bulgaria – an ethnographic description of practices related to the calendar and family rituals, musical, and musical-anthropological analysis of local music. Special attention is paid to a specific folklore interpretation of a religious genre – in particular, the Mevlid ritual by tracing its change from practice in mosques (“high style”) to settlement rituals. Transformations in settlement culture under the influence of various social processes in historical terms are also considered. The study was conducted on the basis of many years of field work and is the first comprehensive study of music in the culture of the Turkish community in Bulgaria.
