Summary/Abstract: The role of Industrial Design is obvious when is about capitalizing on public space and increasing its level of comfort. The design determines the quality, the way of use and the interaction of man with the space and this fact is valid when we refer to the design of serial objects for the public space in general and especially when we addressing to a concrete place. The subject addressed in the article starts from the question of how contextual the industrial design could be when targeting a well-defined public space and how versatile and adaptable this field can be to social circumstances, stories of places, natural phenomena and other factors that could be defining for the identity of the space. We make a synthesis referring to a project implemented in the public space of Chisinau, which coagulated through design, as a tool of expression, the local community and a working group made up of designers, sculptors and engineers. We report on the context in which the idea of the project arose and the creative process followed for the materialization of a product that conveys through its concept, the story of the place and of an atypical natural phenomenon in the Republic of Moldova that happened in April 2017.
