Summary/Abstract: Until a few years ago, anti-East European racism was ‘invisible’ and its deadly potential was unknown. This documentation is the first to create a chronicle of murders driven by anti-East European racist motives in the Federal Republic of Germany since 1990. It begins with an introduction to the practices of recording and recognising right-wing violence, as well as the methodology used. Based on the historically developed Western racialisation of people from Eastern Europe, it can be concluded that this form of racism was already influential in publicly known right-wing murder cases. To make this phenomenon of violence more concrete, cases of right-wing violence reported on by the media and via civil society were examined for the compilation of the chronicle. Through a systematic review of these case collections, which included over 200 cases of right-wing violence, 17 cases involving 19 murdered individuals were identified as being at least partly motivated by anti-East European racist motives. These cases and their connection to anti-East European motives are presented in the article. The analysis of the chronicle shows that racist stereotypes and constructions of inferiority evoke and legitimise this deadly violence. Looking ahead, it is noted that cases related to right-wing attacks and deadly police violence could not be included in the chronicle and require further investigation.
