Inhum(ili)ations: On the Possibility of Environmental Postsecularism

Summary/Abstract: The article recapitulates the development of postsecularism in the Polish humanities,while critically engaging with the dominant philosophical grounding of this thoughtin the gnostic interpretation of modernity. The author advocates for a broader openingof postsecular literary readings to alternative ontological and epistemological models,particularly those linked to environmental (post-anthropocentric) thought. Moreover,the article presents postreligious attitudes of humility, adoration, and reverence ascommon ground for postsecular and ecocritical thought, encouraging the anchoringof current spiritually inflected pursuits – including literary and creative practices – in therelationality of new materialism.
