Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the issue of the limited scope of the informational duty of insurance companies toward motor vehicle owners in light of Articles 28 and 31 of the Act on Compulsory Insurance. The au- thor highlights the limitations of the current legal framework, which does not require insurers to remind policyholders about the end of insurance coverage in cases of vehicle ownership transfer. The article discusses the consequences of this regulation, including an increased risk of unintentional breaches of the insurance obligation and potential violations of the constitutional principles of equality and proportionality. A comparative analysis of the solutions adopted in the Baltic states is also provided. The article proposes the introduction of Article 31a, which would extend the informational duty to new categories of vehicle owners. It concludes with a call for legislative changes aimed at increasing the ef- fectiveness of insurance protection in Poland.
