Theoretical Considerations on Syntactic Structures

Summary/Abstract: As linguistic structures of different sizes, constructions involve several elements and encode syntactic, lexical, semantic and pragmatic information, using similar organizational models. In CxG, syntactic constructions are symbolic units that combine a form with a meaning, associate with each other, and constitute a network of symbolic expressions. The identification of certain syntactic constructions depends on the particular way of observing similarly functioning elements in the flow of speech.
