Summary/Abstract: The following article adresses the influence of other Slavic languages on the codification of the Sorbianlanguages and the arising problems. The author shows that some grammar rules of the written languagewhich emerged in the 19th century do not correspond to the actual spoken language. In particular thisconcerns the aspiration of plosives p, t, k. In this regard the author is citing interesting results of acousticresearch of the Upper Sorbian language which have been an impuls for a current similar researchproject for the Lower Sorbian language using material from native speakers in the scope of the author‘sdoctoral thesis.
