Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the terminology related to sounds of the inanimate world in the poetry of StanisławaPlewińska. The terms were stratified semantically and grouped into: SOUNDS OF INANIMATENATURE and OTHER SOUNDS OF THE SURROUNDING WORLD. The analysis of the materialindicates that the rural environment audiosphere brings a sense of tranquility, dominated by soundsproduced by the elements of inanimate nature (i.e. the Sun, the sky, water), complemented by the noisesof artifacts (e.g. creaking which implies old age/decay). The repertoire of terms used by the folk poet todescribe sounds produced by the inanimate world is conventional and relatively limited.
