Summary/Abstract: The subject of the description in this study is Upper Sorbian phraseology, including the names offorest animals, as well as their derivatives (diminutives and adjectives). The collected material includesnearly one hundred phraseologies containing eleven names of forest animals: wolf, fox, hare, owl, eagle owl, bear, hedgehog, badger, squirrel, deer and roe deer. The study aims to reconstructthe linguistic and cultural image of forest fauna. Upper Sorbian animalistic phraseology reflects bothrealistic and symbolic human perception of the animal world. This resource contains many stereotypicalstructures with an axiological character (the world of forest fauna is a source of referencesto human behaviour and characteristics).
