Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the development of livestock accounting in the inventories of manorial estates in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania during the 16th–18th centuries, with particular attention to changes in the second half of the 18th century. The study is based on 118 inventories from the Vilnius, Trakai, and Samogitia regions, applying source criticism, quantitative, and comparative methods. Until the mid-18th century, inventories usually listed only a few main livestock groups without further classification. Later, a clear trend towards more detailed accounting emerged: more livestock categories were recorded, including their functions and offspring, and previously marginal elements were registered more systematically. These changes were related to climatic fluctuations, wars, market integration and the professionalisation of estate administration, reflecting broader economic and social transformations in the GDL at the end of the 18th century.
