Summary/Abstract: This article examines the daily life of the family of Count Benedict Emmanuel Tyszkiewicz of Raudondvaris (Kaunas district) in 1848–1861. The study discusses aspects of the life of the Counts’ family: diet, entertainment, intellectual inclinations, household and hygiene, health, clothing, charitable activities and patronage. The purpose of the article is to analyze the daily life habits, activities and hobbies of the Counts Tyszkiewicz of Raudondvaris on the basis of the book of expenses and receipts of the treasury of Raudondvaris Manor (1848–1861), so as to get as complete and detailed a picture as possible of what the life of a noble family looked like. To achieve this goal, microhistorical approach was used. Several conclusions were drawn during the research. In the years 1848–1861, there was a change of servants in the Raudondvaris manor due to age and health problems. However, most of the old servants of the manor remained. The entertainments of the Count family were travelling around Europe, going to the theatre, music, reading, hunting. Catholic holidays were celebrated in the manor, as well as name days, birthdays; weddings and the consecration of the new Raudondvaris church were especially luxuriously celebrated. At the Raudondvaris manor, a tasteful furnishing of interiors and the decoration of the palace environment was taken care of. Great attention was also paid to hygiene (especially dental hygiene), bloodletting (by applying leeches) was used as a treatment method. Count B. E. Tyszkiewicz supported the poor, students, artists, and monasteries. He had a special bond with his daughter Wanda’s son, his grandson B. H. Tyszkiewicz. The book of expenses and receipts of the treasury of the Raudondvaris Manor reveals many interesting details about the life of the nobles, from which one can get a general picture of what the family life and household of a rich noble was like in the in the middle of the 19th century.
