Summary/Abstract: This article presents the history of the Zabielski family, tenants of manorial farms (folwarks), highlighting their activities in the Kaunas region from the second half of the 19th century to the mid-20th century. It emphasizes that during this period, manorial farm tenants formed a distinct social group, separate from the landowning nobility. Despite that, the group has not received attention from historians until now. The article thoroughly examines the genealogy and biographies of the Zabielski family, as well as the historical development of their main residences – the Naugardiškė and Pavytė folwarks. Special attention is also given to the estates of Julijan Zabielski, which, while geographically somewhat removed from the main area of study, remained part of the same cultural milieu. The appendices include maps illustrating the locations discussed and lists of exhibits held by the Open-air museum of Lithuania that reflect the cultural heritage of these estates.
