Summary/Abstract: This article presents historical photographs of Patmos preserved in the Photographic Archive of the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Dodecanese. A principal source is a collection produced by Italian historian and archaeologist Giuseppe Gerola in June 1912, during his brief stay on the island in the context of his archaeological research. Equally significant are the photographs documenting the restoration of the monastery of St. John the Theologian following the July 1956 earthquake. This authentic archival material provides key evidence contributing to a deeper understanding of Patmos’ cultural narrative.
