Summary/Abstract: The need for acceptable and reliable evidence introduces the drone as a tool that, especially in photogrammetry, provides great precision in the domain of digital photography, and not only has that improved the efficiency, but also the quality of intervention at the crime scene. The drone as forensic tool relies heavily on its camera and other sensors, with the ability to track position and provide different views of the scene. The advantage of the drone usage when investigating the scene of an event that has ended, or an active “hot” situation, is that it does not touch the ground with a clear overview of the ground conditions, day/night conditions, in areas that are inaccessible or remote, or otherwise dangerous, with a high resolution of areas, objects and evidence that are of forensic and criminological interest. Photos can be taken from different angles with real-time image transmission. The benefits of using drones through photography, video recording, searching for evidence, site mapping and reconstruction as a tool in tele-forensics are numerous. A special case is when a drone is involved in a criminal event. The use of drones is preconditioned by trained personnel and the possibility of the using certain methods. At first sight, drones offer many advantages, but it must be emphasized that in practice there are serious pitfalls in their use and they will be in discussed in this research paper.
