Summary/Abstract: Crime scene is a place where traces and objects of a criminal offense can be found, which includes a wider or narrower environment and which can be indoor or outdoor. Immediately upon learning that a criminal event has occurred at a certain location, authorized officials come and secure the location. The subject of the work concerns the determination of the level of compliance with prescribed theoretical standards and existing internal written procedures. The aim of the work is to show the procedures and methods of handling evidential material when conducting investigative actions, to identify possible problems and difficulties when performing these actions, as well as to make a proposal for overcoming these difficulties, that is, to make a proposal for the possible improvement of work processes, especially in the light of modern technical and scientific solutions. Questionnaire and interview are the methods used in this work with the aim of collecting data and information about the subject of research. The conducted research established that there are no specific written procedures based on which actions are taken on the spot. The conclusions based on this paper indicate that the chain of evidence flow extends from discovery to court, and that the last stage of this chain is the preservation of objects and traces that were collected on the spot so that they can be used as evidence in criminal proceedings.
