Summary/Abstract: This article advocates for the reopening and institutional reintegration of the Cornel Medrea Collection, which constituted Romania’s first sculpture museum and is currently closed to the public. Drawing inspiration from Paris – home to three „plus one” prominent sculpture museums (Musée Rodin, Musée Bourdelle, Musée Maillol and Atelier Brancusi) – the text analyzes how the French capital has successfully incorporated sculpture into its cultural tourism infrastructure. In addition, the study presents a comparative case study on the Meštrović Museums in Zagreb and Split, illustrating how Croatia has integrated sculptural heritage into its national and touristic identity. Through a comparative and conceptual approach, this paper positions the Medrea Collection as both a heritage repository and a potential strategic node in Romania’s cultural tourism landscape. By reconnecting Bucharest with its modern sculptural legacy, the city could claim a unique position in Eastern Europe, mirroring Paris as a vibrant space of memory and artistic dialogue.
