Jan Motyka as the co-author of the collection of Polish post-war ceramics in the National Museum in Krakow

Summary/Abstract: For many years, Jan Motyka (1956–2024) used to collect items representing Polish post-war design. One of its key elements was ceramics. His interests focused on works from the period of the political thaw after October 1956 representing new look style, characterised by organic forms and decorations produced for them. Since 1998, the collector gradually donated gathered items to the National Museum in Krakow. The paper presents the history of development of the national collection by Jan Motyka and discusses the most important groups of items.
