Summary/Abstract: Law and its system constitute one of the indispensable elements of the concept of civilization, alongside culture. Roman Law, which developed as a legal system during Antiquity, established fundamental legal institutions and conceptions of what law is and how it should function, which were not confined to their temporal and territorial horizon. They have continued to remain an integral part of the understanding of law to this day, as well as of the thinking and culture of every jurist, and have exerted an extraordinary influence on the development of legal systems within Western civilization.
