Summary/Abstract: The article aims to determine and describe the types of motivation for the names of gastronomic establishments, using the example of Krakow companies. Based on over a thousand names collected in 2024, the author determines the main types of motivation for these names. She distinguishes direct and indirect realistic motivation, i. e. associative and conventional motivation. She presents names within a dozen or so types of motivation distinguished in terms of meaning. The largest collection consists of names of establishments inspired by the type of national cuisine or regional cuisine, then by the type of dishes offered, and, in the third place, by location. The numerous foreign names are worthy of attention, with English names dominating, followed by Italian, French, Spanish and others. The analysis of the names of catering companies allows us to identify current naming models from the point of view of motivation in this category of onyms.
