Summary/Abstract: This paper presents an overview of environmental activities implemented in eco-kindergartens in the Republic of Croatia, with a focus on the role of early childhood education in developing ecological awareness. The aim of the study is to highlight the importance of eco-kindergartens in shaping children’s environmental understanding and to analyse their programmes in relation to international practices. The research was conducted through a content analysis of ecological activities in 18 Croatian eco-kindergartens, using an inductive approach. The results show that kindergartens implement a wide range of activities, including recycling, plant cultivation, and environmental education, although the scope and frequency of these activities vary. The findings indicate that eco-kindergartens in Croatia contribute to fostering ecological awareness, yet there remains room for improvement through more systematic programme implementation and stronger institutional support.
