Summary/Abstract: Forced migration, driven by armed conflicts and economic crises, significantly disrupts traditional patterns of intergenerational solidarity. Young people and children who leave crisis-affected countries face multiple challenges ranging from exposure to violence and traumatization during irregular migration to difficulties in integration in the destination country and mental health problems. An additional psychological burden stems from expectations that they will provide financial support to family members who remain in the country of origin, where institutional support and opportunities for independent livelihood are often lacking. Due to the urgent need for income, young migrants predominantly engage in low-skilled and physically demanding jobs, which limits their opportunities for personal and professional development as well as their long-term socioeconomic stability. The aim of this paper is to deepen the understanding of the effects of forced migration on intergenerational solidarity and to offer recommendations for improving social policies that could contribute to long-term social stability. Particular attention is given to the role of social workers in supporting young migrants through educational, integration, and psychosocial interventions.
