Summary/Abstract: The author presents 72 coins discovered in the area of the Roman settlement at Ostrov – Ferma 4 (Constanța county), kept in a private collection in Călărași. This batch comprises a republican denarius, 63 early Roman coins and 8 late Roman coins. The republican denarius belongs to the well known series minted by Marcus Antonius in 32/31 BC, before the Battle of Actium. The early Roman coins fall under three main categories: imperial issues (10 specimens), provincial issues (24 specimens), and cast imitations (29 specimens). The provincial coins and most of those used as prototypes for making cast imitations were minted in Moesia Inferior, at Marcianopolis and Nicopolis ad Istrum. The batch of late Roman coins, covering only the 4th century, begins with a piece struck for Crispus in 317 and ends with one of Arcadius, dated 395–401.
