Summary/Abstract: The connections between traditions, culture, and sacredness have been the subject of study for classical scholars as well as for UNESCO, which, in the Mexico City Declaration on Cultural Policies, defined culture, in the clearest sense, as “the whole complex of distinctive, spiritual and material, intellectual and emotional features that characterize a society or a social group. It includes the arts and letters, ways of life, fundamental rights of the human being, value systems, traditions, and beliefs.”
