Summary/Abstract: The paper addresses the relationship between the national and the organisational culture in the office of Ernst young multinational company in Serbia (Belgrade). The research purports to establish how the values, attitudes and behaviour of the employed absorbed as they were growing up and being incorporated in the Serbian society (national culture) can affect their experience with the proclaimed values of the organisation they work for (organisational culture). The research of the dimensions of national culture conducted by the Dutch social psychologist Geert Hofstede is the principal theoretical framework addressing the influence of the national on the organisational culture. In addition to these cultural suppositions, the author singles out six more traits of „people in Serbia“. The characteristics are explained and considered with the help of ethnographic examples gathered while I was engaged in work practice at the company’s seat. The author’s dual research position as a researcher and a practitioner with work tasks and duties is also analysed.
