Summary/Abstract: The author considers the possibility of a museological application of the theoretical model of the cultural biography of things in use since the mid 1980s in many projects researching the mate- rial culture. The analysis of the ‘biography’ of a museum object: a military helmet turned into gusle in Bizerta in 1917 indicates the museological potential of this theoretical model and theoretical and methodological limitations occurring when it is applied in the regular museum practice in the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade.
