Summary/Abstract: Texts accompany people everywhere as basic units of communication. They are virtually omnipresent in urban/public spaces. However, many people often hardly notice them because they have become routine. Linguistic research has also long paid little attention to urban texts. For some time now, however, a young linguistic discipline – landscape linguistics – has been devoting more interest to texts of this type, examining them from various perspectives and attempting to answer questions such as: How does the city communicate with its residents/visitors and in what way does it draw their attention to texts? How do people communicate with each other in an (urban) space? How does public space, which often represents a multilingual, culturally diverse semiotic landscape, influence the formulation of texts / the course of communication? Reflections on such topics are presented in the volume „Texträume und Raumtexte intermedial“, published in 2025 by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht in the Fields of Linguistics – Aktuelle Fragestellungen und Herausforderungen, edited by Regina Bergmann and Joanna Szczęk, which documents the results of scientific collaboration between researchers at the University of Wrocław and the Technical University of Dresden in 16 thematically organised articles.
