Summary/Abstract: In the past year, we have commemorated academic education in Cluj on several occasions. Most recently, our distinguished city historian, György Gaal, wrote in Szabadság about the opening of the university 150 years ago. Yet today fewer and fewer people know that another prestigious institution of university rank once operated on this venerable downtown street, Farkas Street (now Mihail Kogălniceanu Street).
