Summary/Abstract: This paper examines sentence complexes where the basis of the semantic structure is established by the predication of a superordinate clause denoting situational-temporal (in) adequacy/(un)timeliness, while the predication in the dependent clause plays the role of explaining that situational-temporal (in)adequacy/untimeliness. In the main body of the paper, three classes of this sentence complex are differentiated, and the structural models within them are examined in more detail. After detailed analysis, the most relevant conclusion drawn is that the nature of this type of dependent clause is two-fold. Since they are realized as a complements of governing verbs, nouns and adverbs, and function as explicators of marked situational-temporal (in)adequacy, they are determined to be complementary clauses. On the other hand, since they always denote planned, that is intended, action of the agent, these clauses are close to adverbial intentional clauses. Taking this into account, it can be concluded that the dependent clauses in the framework of the analyzed sentence complex belong to the complementary-intentional hypotactic system.
