Summary/Abstract: Misrelated participles represent a syntactic phenomenon where participial constructions do not align in a semantic way with the subject of the finite verb. They pose an important challenge in both linguistic analysis and practical usage. The present paper examines the grammatical and semantic foundations of misrelated participles, their historical development, and their status in Modern English. Furthermore, it highlights when these constructions are deemed ungrammatical and explores exceptions where unrelated participles are considered acceptable.
