Summary/Abstract: This study analyses the public activities of František Kovárna during the Third Czechoslovak Republic (1945–1948) and in exile, that is, after his emigration in the aftermath of the Communist takeover in February 1948. The author examines Kovárna’s political, academic, and journalistic activities, showing how his involvement with in the Czechoslovak National Socialist Party and contemporary press overlapped with his activities at the Charles University. In the second part of the contribution, the author presents an analysis of Kovárna’s hitherto little studied activities in the Czechoslovak exile, especially in the Council of Free Czechoslovakia but also in other exile organisations.
