Summary/Abstract: The study addresses the history of the library of the Bessarabian Church Historical and Archaeological Society, which was founded in Chisinau in 1904. Since most of the works on this library cover the Romanian books in its collections, we focus on the handwritten and printed books in Old Slavonic published outside the Romanian space. The study of archival and published documents allowed us to determine that these books came from Bessarabian churches and monasteries. The novelty of the study lies in the confirmation of the presence in Bessarabia of manuscripts in Old Slavonic containing Glagolitic graphemes, the significance of which, however, was appreciated much later. Our research supplements the information about the composition of the library of the Church Historical and Archaeological Society Museum.
