Summary/Abstract: The National Museum of History of Moldova possesses a large collection of porcelain and faience items, mostly made in European and Russian factories. Although items in the collection have previously been exhibited and published, further, more in-depth research is needed to provide a detailed picture of the collection, including new acquisitions. The purpose of this paper is to study porcelain produced in Germany. To do this, we identified the items produced in German factories, establishing their origin and production period, traced the history of the factories, and determined the features and styles of the items. The collection includes valuable porcelain from the factories of Meissen, Fulda, Volkstedt, Wallendorf, Freiberg, Schwarzenbach an der Saale (Kronester), Kahla, Reichenbach, Selb (Hutschenreuther and Rosenthal), Gräfenthal (Carl Scheidig), Katzütte (Hertwig), Boch- Wallendorf (Fazold and Stauch), Weimar, Würtenberg (Bauer and Pfeiffer), Mitterteich, Küps (Edelstein), Roslau, and Hohenberg. These cultural and historical treasures date back to the period from the 18th to the 20th centuries. German porcelain is characterized by typological diversity and high artistic quality. The items belong to different times and styles: Rococo, Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Their historical and documentary value is in the fact that they belonged to outstanding people of the past (N. Marchevici-Moroșanu, N. Coleadici, I. Ungureanu, N. Gheorghiu, N. Chetraru, and others). Although the history of porcelain production in Germany has seen periods of growth and decline, German porcelain surpasses the products of other European countries in perfection.
