Summary/Abstract: The text discusses the use of computer tools to analyse the emotional overtones of adverbadjective collocates. The authors focus here on the analysis of the interplay between the adverbadjective collocate and the context in which the collocate occurs. Thus, linguistic data extracted from corpora using digital tools for estimating emotional overtones in texts will be analysed. We test (together with the author of the second text in this triad – M. Gębka-Wolak – devoted to the analysis of the overtones of the bigrams themselves) the methodology developed theoretically (in the first article of this triad by A. Moroz), and more specifically: the applicability and effectiveness of NLP tools that automate and objectify the process of identifying emotions. The aim of the research is to develop reliable procedures for emotion identification (here: their empirical, preliminary verification) that can be applied to the analysis of different aspects of language functioning. This project is a pilot phase of a larger undertaking carried out by a team of researchers from three Polish universities. This text discusses the analytical phase of the project based on contextual analyses and provides an empirical verification of the theoretical findings of the first text and a continuation of the analyses presented in the second text.
