Summary/Abstract: The Third Industrial Revolution spans from the mid – 20th Century to the beginning of the 21st Century. Its development can be cha¬racterised as a gradual transition toward the synchronization of an increasing number of economic and social activities. Its core and distinctive feature is the use of electronic information technologies for the automation of production. This article examines the transformations in the evolution of economic theory and methodology during this period, as reflected in the works of prominent economists of the 20th Century.
