Summary/Abstract: Planned obsolescence constitutes an unfair commercial practice, now addressed by European law through a set of regulations aimed at ensuring the durability of goods and the protection of consumers. It also raises questions regarding the scope of property rights and the obligations of states to respect fundamental rights. The recent evolution of the legal framework, notably through the strengthening of the right to repair and the promotion of a circular economy, reflects a profound shift in consumer law toward sustainability. Consequently, the fight against planned obsolescence forms part of a broader movement linking economic, environmental, and social justice.
