Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses some interferences between criminal law and the church doctrine of good and evil. The main questions it addresses are the following: What are the particularities of the institution of punishment in Romanian criminal doctrine and in Orthodox church doctrine? What happens if there is a mismatch or even a contradiction between some of these components? Why does the crime rate not decrease? Why do we still not succeed despite concentrated resources? Is there an answer in ecclesiastical doctrine?
