Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of the research carried out on Tumuli 1 and 2 near the village of Doina (Cahul District, Republic of Moldova) during the 1990 archaeological campaign. In total, 18 graves were documented, belonging to distinct chronological and cultural stages: the Late Eneolithic, the Early and Middle Bronze Age (the Yamnaya, Catacomb, and Babyno cultures), the Late Bronze Age (the Sabatinovka culture), as well as the prescythian horizon (the Chernogorovka culture). The funerary complex at Doina offers a comprehensive picture of the cultural and chronological dynamics in the Prut–Dniester interfluve, illustrating the transformations in funerary rite and ritual over several centuries and highlighting the local characteristics of burial practices. The importance of these tumuli also lies in the possibility of integrating the materials obtained during the 1990 excavations with modern analytical methods, such as 3D documentation and radiocarbon dating. These interdisciplinary approaches give the complexes from Doina a new interpretative value and contribute to reconstructing the processes of cultural change in the southwestern peripheral zone of the Eurasian steppe.
