Summary/Abstract: This article aims to conduct an analytical review of the Bulgarian scientific literature regarding the application of artificial intelligence in small and medium-sized enterprises. The review covers the scientific database Google Scholar for the period until the end of February 2025. In methodological terms, the search protocol uses a structured approach based on the PRISMA methodology. The relevance of the topic stems from the challenge facing small and medium-sized enterprises to adapt their management models to new technological realities. In the context of digital transformation, the integration of artificial intelligence is essential for maintaining their market positions and their effective management. The results show that small and medium-sized enterprises in Bulgaria use artificial intelligence: in enterprise management, to optimize their marketing strategies, in human resource management and to increase information security. In modern enterprises, artificial intelligence offers algorithms that support data entry and analysis, budgeting, control and management decision-making, entering management systems in almost all of its functions. Through market analysis, artificial intelligence provides information about consumer behavior and the competitive environment, which helps small and medium-sized enterprises optimize their marketing strategies. The integration of artificial intelligence technologies, automation and remote work is fundamentally changing the way organizations work and manage their human capital. With the application of artificial intelligence, the strengths and weaknesses of information security systems can be identified and prioritized methods of protection can be proposed. The integration of artificial intelligence requires significant financial resources for implementation, maintenance and training of personnel and often meets resistance from experts and users. This article is developed in four parts. The first part forms the research framework on which the review was conducted. The second part summarizes the results of this study. The third part contains a discussion on the topic of this study. The fourth part examines the challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises in the implementation of artificial intelligence.
