ON POPULARISATION AND AWAKENING (USING THE EXAMPLE OF THE PEDAGOGICAL APPROACH TO THE PROBLEM OF HUMAN IDENTITY)

Summary/Abstract: The article problematises popularisation as a pedagogical experience in which the personal awakening of participants plays a fundamental role. Using the example of the concept of human identity, discussed in Polish literature by Lech Witkowski, the article shows the conditions under which an issue that is the subject of pedagogical research and reflection can genuinely evoke cognitive interest and lead to truly fruitful research pursuits. The considerations are based on two lectures by Lech Witkowski. It allows for a discussion of the way human identity is problematised in a discourse directed at a relatively broad group of recipients, as well as for determining the substantive style of embedding the issue presented by Witkowski, and also for formulating, from a pedagogical point of view, the conditions under which awakening can occur.
