Summary/Abstract: African migrants in Germany must show resilience as they struggle to integrate into the host society. Not only do they have to learn and be able to speak a new language properly, but they also have to familiarise themselves with the culture and people of the host country. This is all the more complex as immigrants have to cope with reticence, rejection, discrimination, exclusion and marginalisation in everyday life due to their often negatively perceived skin colour. Therefore, this article aims at using Karamba Diaby's autobiographical novel „Mit Karamba in den Bundestag. Mein Weg vom Senegal ins deutsche Parlament“ to discuss and analyse in detail the complex question of migrants' integration from Africa to Germany, a country that is often sceptical about migration.
