Summary/Abstract: This article demonstrates that fables and memes are effective formats for addressing ethical and societal questions in German language education. Fables, utilized as reflective mediums since antiquity, present complex moral dilemmas through their clear structure and promote critical thinking in the classroom. Similarly, political internet memes provide young people with a creative approach to contemporary issues, often questioning societal dynamics in a humorous manner. Both media create spaces for discussions about values, norms, and the concept of the good life. In German classes, they can contribute to democracy education by stimulating reflective processes and empowering students to negotiate diverse perspectives dialogically.
