THE ROLE OF VENTURE CAPITAL IN THE CREATION OF GOODWILL

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to show that the choice of Venture Capital, as a source of capital, can add value to a company. This publication contains an analysis of a survey commissioned by the European Venture Capital Association, in which respondents (companies that were financed by VC) explain whether and how Venture Capital helped them to improve their business. The article presents an analysis of financial and non-financial factors, which can be influenced by the VC, with particular emphasis on the role of the fund management team (through co-management and co-deciding about functioning of the financed company) and the role of the intellectual capital added by VC fund. The last part is the presentation of real options, which are created by this type of financing.
