Summary/Abstract: This study presents the image, personality and work of st. Mary Magdalene on the basis of the information about her received from the four canonical gospels, the Tradition of the Church and the early Christian texts from Nag Hamadi, according to which she played an essential role among the disciples of Jesus Christ. The conclusion, which is drawn on the basis of the available facts, is that her personality and role among the disciples of Jesus Christ, as well as her work in the spread of Christianity, must be considered in a new way.
