Summary/Abstract: The main thesis of this article is that EU migration and asylum policies are increasingly dominated by a security logic, which manifests in a 'spiraling securitization' and culminates in the adoption of the new Pact on Migration and Asylum. Although presented as an attempt to achieve balance, it actually strengthens external control and internal surveillance, permanently shifting the focus from a humanitarian approach to prioritizing security and the rapid return of migrants to their countries. To support this thesis, the article is structured into several main sections. After the theoretical framework, which defines the key concepts, the historical evolution of EU policies is traced, with an emphasis on the main points of securitization. This is followed by an analysis of the main instruments and practices, including the external dimension and the role of Frontex. In conclusion, a critical analysis of the new Pact is made as the culmination of this process.
