INTERTEXTUAL INTERTWININGS IN KAČIĆ'S RAZGOVOR UGODNI NARODA SLOVINSKOGA

Summary/Abstract: The scholarly examination of the literary legacy of Andrija Kačić Miošić has long been considered complete. However, certain aspects of his work Razgovor ugodni naroda slovinskoga remain insufficiently addressed in critical discourse, particularly those related to the literary sources that shaped his poetic imagination. This gap has motivated Professor Miroslav Palameta, a distinguished scholar of both early and modern literature and author of Literarni izvori i pjesnička radionica u Razgovoru ugodnom, to re-examine Kačić’s oeuvre. His study highlights literary-historical coordinates of Kačić’s poetic Parnassus that previous criticism has neither identified nor explored. Palameta’s monograph provides a detailed analysis of the genesis and structure of Kačić’s poem, which, within the traditional periodization of eighteenth-century Croatian literature, stands as a model of the epic-heroic genre. By deconstructing the narrative architecture and situating the text within a diachronic framework, the author deciphers Kačić’s poetic code and clarifies ambiguities regarding the Latin, Italian, and Croatian sources that informed his creative process.
