Summary/Abstract: As a potential member of the European Union, Bosnia and Herzegovina has the opportunity to use its own natural potentials for the establishment of cross-border protected areas through the integration of natural areas in the border area, infrastructure, cultural and historical heritage, as well as economic and social ties that contribute to the sustainable spatial development of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European context. The integration of cross-border protected areas should take place in line with European programs for cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation, with harmonization of spatial development priorities with European principles and indicators of spatial development. The subject of work are the potentials of cross-border protection of natural areas, i.e. inventory of the entire natural heritage that represents the potential for inclusion into the tourist offer and development of tourism. The aim of the paper is to explain the possibilities of integrating Bosnia and Herzegovina into a wider environment and to achieve sustainable development through the definition and valorization of international and/or regional cooperation in the establishment of border protected areas. By collecting and analyzing available literature, surveys and possible field observations of particular areas will be presented information on given facilities and their current utilization for tourist purposes, as well as the possibilities of more complete and better use of space in tourist activity, ie integration.
