The theological workS of Prof. Dr. Dimitar Penov (in connection with History of Religions)

Summary/Abstract: The current study examines the theological work of Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov Penov (1903-1983), approached through the lens of the History of Religions. It identifies and theologically examines several core research themes in Penov’s scholarship: the triad “science-philosophy-religion”; the historical relationship between “philosophy and religion”; the interplay between “personal worldview and religious thought”; the origin of nature and religion; and the fundamental elements of religion–faith, belief in a personal God (or gods), immortality, religious community, worship, doctrine, and moral framework. The study aims to show that the history of philosophy, as well as the history of psychology, are connected with the history of religions due to its all-encompassing nature.
