Interjections in affirmative forms: The case of ay sí

Summary/Abstract: This article stems from an interest in the pragmatic-discursive role played by interjections in affirmative expressions. Specifically, the analysis focuses on the combination of ay with the affirmative adverb sí, used in different communicative situations. Based on a corpus compiled from the CORPES XXI database, the different pragmatic values of this structure are examined, both at the discursive and social levels.
